About Us: Regent Park Tenants Rights Association (RPTRA)

The Regent Park Tenants Rights Association (RPTRA) is a grassroots, community-driven non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for and empowering tenants in Regent Park. Since our establishment in 2012, and our official registration on October 10th, 2019, we have been unwavering in our commitment to protecting tenants' rights and improving housing conditions within our vibrant and diverse community.

Our Mission

At RPTRA, we believe every tenant deserves safe, secure, and dignified housing. Our mission is to:

  • Advocate for tenants’ rights and equitable housing policies.
  • Support Regent Park residents in navigating housing challenges.
  • Empower tenants through education and resources to assert their rights.

We work collaboratively with residents, local organizations, and public officials to ensure tenants' voices are heard and respected.

Who We Are

Our team includes dedicated members with deep roots in the Regent Park community. Many of our members have decades of experience in social work, housing advocacy, and community development. Some of our leaders have been active in social work for over 25 years, serving Regent Park residents through other respected local organizations.

Recognized Impact

RPTRA’s work has been featured in prominent media outlets such as the Toronto Star, Metro News, and other local platforms, highlighting the challenges and triumphs of Regent Park tenants. These features underscore the critical role we play in driving awareness and action on housing issues.

Transparency and Accountability

We pride ourselves on being transparent in our operations and activities. As part of our commitment to the community, previous petitions and audits initiated by RPTRA are available for public review at Toronto City Hall. These documents reflect the collective efforts of tenants and stakeholders to advocate for better housing conditions and tenant rights.

Why We’re Different

What sets RPTRA apart is our unwavering dedication to Regent Park tenants. Our work is informed by lived experience, professional expertise, and a profound understanding of the unique challenges faced by our community. We are not just advocates; we are neighbors working together for a better future.
